New red jumper for winter

New red jumper for winter

Part 1: First signs

Feel that white wind blow all,
Day shorter but sweeter,
Frozen orange sunsets,
Tease tart smarting lips.

Part 2: anger at goodbye to smug orange summer.

Adios,
Bowing summer spectrum,
Smearing easyjet grin,
Takes the ducks and leaves
Us Fall, packs all but stumps.

Part 3 and 4: icy depression

Should have been
In the house
Drips have paused
Its bare Bones
In the air
Wish you’d melt
In your sleep
Before you freeze
It’s no use
Being on you knees.

Part 5: Red in amongst white…

But.
Little berries on the holly
Swell up like Christmas lips
The snarlier winter’s bluster
Makes them giggle on the twig.

Rosy cheeked heartbeat.
Robin skips around.
Red sticks it out.
Breast holds its ground.
